It was only a few days ago that we announced that we would be switching to a new flash client. It offers a lot more than our previous flash client, TFlash and is the perfect combination for users and channel operators. We hope you have been enjoying it as much as we have!
Having said that, we are glad to announce that we have had even more functionality added to the client! The following is a list of additional features that have been added on.
- Similar to the NickServ registration function, a similar feature has been added in regards to channel registration. If you are using a registered nickname, and are identified, you will find another button under the Actions menu called “Register Channel.” This is to allow for easy channel registration without having to know the command.
- As a few of you might know, using “!911″ in a channel is to get the attention of the IRC staff, in case of emergency (example: an ongoing botnet in a channel.) To make it even easier for channel operators, a “!911″ option will appear on the Actions menu if you have halfop(%) or above. Please be aware that this command is only to be used in an emergency situation, and prank usage will result in severe consequences.
- When talking in channels, socializing with friends via PM or moderating a channel, you tend to forget to check your server window. This usually means that network Globals go unnoticed, resulting in you being unaware of maintenance and important announcements. To help lift this burden, if a Global is sent out, you will receive a pop up window in your active tab, so you will always be aware of what is going on.
- A few bugfixes have also been added in. Should you experience any problems, please leave a comment on this post so we can try rectify the problem.
We hope to add some more features on in the future, such as being able to input a NickServ password before connecting, and a few others.
We would like to say a HUGE thank you to Valentin of http://www.lightirc.com/ for all the hard work he has put into this!
UPDATE: You now have the option of displaying a NickServ password box. Take a look at the Flash Chat Generator.
