MemoServ Commands

Note: /ms may be substituted for /msg MemoServ in any command below. For example, /msg MemoServ CANCEL nick would become /ms CANCEL nick

CANCEL: /msg MemoServ CANCEL nick|#channel
Cancels the last memo you sent to the specified nick or channel, provided it has not already been read.

CHECK: /msg MemoServ CHECK nick
Checks whether the last memo you sent to the specified nick has been read or not. Note that this only work with nicks, not with channels.

DEL: The command allows you to delete memos. Options are:

  • LAST: /msg MemoServ DEL last
    Deletes the last memo received.
  • ALL: /msg MemoServ DEL all
    Deletes all memos.
  • LIST: /msg MemoServ del list
    Deletes the memos specified in the list. (Ex. /msg MemoServ del 1-4 would only delete memos 1 through 4. You could also use /msg MemoServ del 1-4, 6-8 to delete only memos 1 through 4 AND memos 6 though 8.)
  • CHANNEL: /msg MemoServ del #channel [option]
    Deletes the memos for the specified channel. All other options described above apply. You must have the appropriate channel access to use this command. By default, you must have SOP or level 10 access on a channel to read its memos. This can be changed with the ChanServ LEVELS command.

INFO: Informs you of your memo info. It lists the number of memos you have, what your LIMIT (see below) is set at, and your NOTIFY status (also see below). There are two options:

  • INFO: /msg MemoServ INFO
    Displays the items listed above for your nick
  • CHANNEL: /msg MemoServ INFO #channel
    Displays the items list above for a specified channel. You must have the appropriate channel access to use this command. By default, you must have SOP or level 10 access on a channel to read its memos. This can be changed with the ChanServ LEVELS command.

LIST: Lists your memos. Options are:

  • LIST: /msg MemoServ LIST
    Lists all memos for your nickname. New memos will be indicated by a “*”. You can also specify a list to only see certain memos. (Ex. /msg MemoServ list 1-4 would only list memos from number 1 to number 4. You could also use /msg MemoServ list 1-4, 6-8 to list only memos 1 through 4 AND memos 6 though 8.)
  • NEW: /msg MemoServ LIST new
    Lists only the new memos your current nickname has.
  • CHANNEL: /msg MemoServ LIST #channel
    Lists all memos for the specified channel. All other options described above apply. You must have the appropriate channel access to use this command. By default, you must have SOP or level 10 access on a channel to read its memos. This can be changed with the ChanServ LEVELS command.

READ: Allows you to read your memos. Options are:

  • LAST: /msg MemoServ READ last
    Opens the last memo received.
  • NEW: /msg MemoServ READ new
    Opens any new memos you have received.
  • LIST: /msg MemoServ READ list
    Opens the memos specified in the list. (Ex. /msg MemoServ list 1-4 would only open memos from number 1 to number 4. You could also use /msg MemoServ list 1-4, 6-8 to open only memos 1 through 4 AND memos 6 though 8.)
  • CHANNEL: /msg MemoServ READ #channel
    Opens all memos for the specified channel. All other options described above apply. You must have the appropriate channel access to use this command. By default, you must have SOP or level 10 access on a channel to read its memos. This can be changed with the ChanServ LEVELS command.

RSEND: /msg MemoServ RSEND nick|channel memo you want to send
Sends the specified nick or channel a memo containing the given memo text. When sending to a nickname, the recipient will receive a notice that he/she has a new memo. The target nickname/channel must be registered. Once the memo is read by its recipient, an automatic notification memo will be sent to the sender informing him/her that the memo has been read.

SEND: /msg MemoServ SEND nick|channel memo you want to send
Sends the text from the “memo you want to send” parameter to the specified nick or channel.

SET: Sets various memo options. Options are:

  • NOTIFY: /msg MemoServ SET notify parameter
    Changes your settings for memo notification. The parameters are:

    • ON: /msg MemoServ SET notify on
      You will be notified of memos when you login, when you unset /AWAY, and when they are sent to you.
    • LOGIN: /msg MemoServ SET notify login
      You will be notified of memos only when you login or unset /AWAY.
    • NEW: /msg MemoServ SET notify new
      You will be notified of memos only when they are sent to you.
    • OFF: /msg MemoServ SET notify off
      You will not receive any notification of memos.
  • LIMIT: /msg MemoServ SET limit parameter
    Changes your settings for memo limits. The parameters are:

    • USERLIMIT: /msg MemoServ SET limit number between 0-20
      Sets the maximum number of memos you nick will be able to receive. If it is set to 0 you will not be able to receive any memos. It cannot be set any higher than 20.
    • CHANNELLIMIT: /msg MemoServ SET #channel number between 0-20
      Does the same as the above for a specified channel. You must have the appropriate channel access to use this command. By default, you must have SOP or level 10 access on a channel to read its memos. This can be changed with the ChanServ LEVELS command.
